Our litter-picking sessions are always good fun. Obviously we are there to pick up litter. But we don’t take ourselves too seriously and there’s always a bit of banter and some laughs.
Anyone can join us. Our groups meet at the car park off Snaresbrook Road on the following dates in 2025, usually the first Tuesday of the month:
Tuesday, January 7th
Tuesday, February 11th (not 4th)
Tuesday, March 4th
Tuesday, April 8th (not 1st)
Tuesday, May 6th
Tuesday, June 3rd
Tuesday, July 1st
Tuesday, August 5th
Tuesday, September 2nd
Tuesday, October 7th
Tuesday, November 4th
and our Festive Season Special
Tuesday, December 2nd
Meeting at the corner of the car park to set off at 10.30 am, we usually do about an hour of litterpicking, in groups of two or three, especially trying to remove litter from the busiest areas, and emptying sacks and a bin. We stop for a mid-morning break and refreshments, and then carry on for another hour.
We provide all equipment: litter-picking sticks, rubbish sacks and gloves. There’s free parking for OWL volunteers while they are litterpicking.
If you can let us know in advance that you will be coming it is helpful but it’s not essential.
We will always aim to be there on the published dates, whatever the weather, so if in any doubt turn up – even if it’s just for the warming refreshments!
We post details of our litterpicks on Squirt. Click here to go to Squirt’s website In the Cruise Section search for ‘Snaresbrook Road Woods’.
All OWL litterpicks are carried out with due regard to any guidance and legislation around Covid-19 that is relevant at the time of the Litterpick.
